Phoebe Evans (b. 2000) is a painter living and working in London. Using magical realism to reimagine vivid dreamscapes, her work draws on both the intimate and the liminal to create atmospheres suspended between fantasy and reality. Through bright colour palettes and surreal, cinematic perspectives, Evans deconstructs conventional ideas of atmosphere and tonality, pushing her paintings away from the familiar and into more abstract psychological spaces.

Cinematic in essence, the interiors and rooms depicted by Evans act as portals into metaphorical homes and intimate histories. Doors, windows, and passageways recur throughout the work, becoming thresholds between memory, imagination, and parallel realities. These spaces often feel simultaneously nostalgic and distant, encouraging viewers to project their own memories and associations onto the scenes. In this way, the paintings become collaborative spaces where artist and audience meet through shared emotional resonance and imagined worlds.

Evans completed an MA in Painting at the Royal College of Art, London (2022–2023), following a BA in Painting at Camberwell College of Arts, London (2019–2022).

Selected exhibitions include Condo Satellite at Harlesden High Street x Refuses, London (2026); Caim at Slane Castle with Apsara Studio, Ireland (2025); portals at Blue Shop Galleries, London (solo, 2025); Vigil at Semester9 / Shipton Gallery, Amsterdam (2024); In Absentia at Blue Shop Galleries, London (2024); Foundations at the Artsy Online Fair (2024); Buffer 2 at Guts Gallery, London (2023); the RCA Degree Show at the Royal College of Art, London (2023); and Universe 25 at Gillian Jason Gallery, London (2023).

In 2023, Evans exhibited in The Morrison & Foerster Art Prize at The Scalpel, London.
