Jennifer Pattison is a British photographer based in East Sussex. Trained at the London College of Communication, her work centres on the female experience, with a particular focus on motherhood and caregiving. Rooted in portraiture and produced through analogue photographic processes, her practice explores themes including the hidden mother, protection, time, thresholds, and intimacy. Through carefully observed images, Pattison examines the emotional and psychological spaces surrounding family, identity, and visibility.

Alongside her artistic practice, she works as a photography lecturer.

Pattison completed a Professional Graduate Certificate in Education in Further Education and Training (Art, Design and Media) at the University of Brighton (2020–2021), following a BA (Hons) in Photography at the London College of Communication, University of the Arts London (1997–2000).

Photo Festival, West Bromwich (2019), Lalit Kala Akademi, Chandigarh (2018), and Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar (2018); 209 Women at Open Eye Gallery, Liverpool (2019) and Portcullis House, London (2018); the British Journal of Photography Portrait of Britain exhibition (2018); Photography on a Postcard at Somerset House during Photo London (2018); and the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize exhibitions at the National Portrait Gallery, London (2012) and M Shed, Bristol (2013).

Awards and distinctions include being selected for the Gender & Gesture exhibition at Woxsen University, Hyderabad (2023), being shortlisted for the EyeMama Project (2023), selection for the inaugural TRACE Mentorship Programme (2022), winning the British Journal of Photography Portrait of Britain Award (2018), and receiving Second Prize in the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize at the National Portrait Gallery, London (2012). She was also awarded First Prize in Fine Art Nudes at the Lucies International Photography Awards (2013) and named a winner of Magenta FlashForward (2013).

Her work is held in collections including the Parliamentary Art Collection, London, and the Frances Reynolds Collection, London.
