Kathryn Lynch is a contemporary painter whose work explores wonder, curiosity and suspended moments in time. Working primarily in oil paint, Lynch creates paintings that capture emotional and psychological atmospheres rather than fixed narratives, evoking a sense of time untethered from chronology or ordinary experience. Her work often centres on fleeting perceptions and moments of contemplation, inviting viewers into spaces shaped by stillness, imagination and observation.
Lynch studied at the University of Pennsylvania, where she completed an MFA between 1987 and 1990, and attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in 1991.
Recent exhibitions include presentations with Huxley-Parlour (2025), Sears-Peyton Gallery (2025), Victoria Munroe Fine Art (2025), and a two-person exhibition at Turn Gallery (2025). She also participated in the CMCA Maine Biennial in 2025, alongside exhibitions with Karma Gallery, Shrine Gallery and The Drawing Room Gallery.
Lynch received a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship in 2018 and a 2025 Edward Albee Foundation residency. Her work is held in the collection of the University of California Berkeley Art Museum.
