2026
Oil on board
16 x 16 x 3.5 (depth of frame)
Working in both oil paint and pencil, the artist draws from direct observation and photography to explore the quiet poetry of everyday life. Their practice is rooted in close looking, finding moments of stillness and significance within ordinary subjects. Painting has become a way of finding calm amidst anxiety, transforming familiar scenes into works that encourage a slower, more attentive way of seeing.
They hold a BSc in Biochemistry (1981) and a PhD from the University of London (1986), and later undertook courses in still life painting at the Art Academy London and Heatherley School of Fine Art.
Recent exhibitions include the Chelsea Arts Society Summer Show (2022–2025), the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition (2023), and the London Framing Summer Show (2023).
