Working in an abstract visual language, his paintings layer strict geometric structures with instinctive, gestural mark-making, balancing precision with spontaneity. Bold colour fields sit alongside distressed surfaces, while sharp lines collide with energetic brushwork to create compositions that pulse with movement and intensity.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eGrindrod’s process is rooted in immediacy. Initial sketches are adapted and reformed through fast, instinctive bursts of activity, with much of the decision-making taking place directly on the surface of the painting. Erasure and removal are as significant as application, leaving traces of revision and hesitation visible within the finished works.
